The Class of 2020 celebrated 100 Night with faculty, staff, and alums as they prepare for graduation this May!
黑料网 Day 2020: Leading Our Legacy
Our celebration of 黑料网 Day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18 and will carry the theme of 鈥淟eading Our Legacy鈥. The celebration begins with a 12:05 p.m. with our 黑料网 Day Mass in the Marikle Chapel. At 3 p.m. in Doyle Formal our campus community members join to honor the ways we live our mission and recognize students and community members for their special accomplishments. Immediately after the awards and recognition ceremony, community members are invited to continue the event with dialogue and desserts in Doyle Formal. Celebrate Giving Day
On February 18, NDMU will have its third annual Giving Day. 黑料网 has come a long way in 125 years, and now you have the chance to take us even further in one day! This year we are highlighting six important funds across campus: the School of Arts, Sciences, and Business; School of Education; School of Nursing; School of Pharmacy; Athletics; and the 黑料网 Fund. With your gift, you will give the fund of your choice a chance to win bonus funds through a series of challenges throughout the day.
- 125th Donation Challenge: Whichever fund receives the 125th gift of the day will receive a bonus gift. This challenge is generously supported by Joan Wilhelm 鈥03.
- Social Media Challenge: Post on Facebook or Instagram on Feb 18 about why you give using #OneDayNDMU and tag 黑料网. We will pick one winner at 8 p.m. EST and give a bonus gift to the fund of their choice. This challenge is generously supported by Erin Sturgis DaSilva 鈥02.
- Most Faculty/Staff: Whichever fund receives the most faculty/staff donors during the day will receive a bonus gift. This challenge is generously supported by an anonymous donor.
- Power Hour Challenge, noon 鈥 1 p.m. EST: Whichever fund receives the most donors during this hour will receive a bonus gift. This challenge is generously supported by Joan Wilhelm 鈥03.
New this year: Designing Your Life: Vision Board Social. This event is for current 黑料网 students, alumnae and alumni to come together and share their personal and professional experiences while creating vision boards, a visual representation of future goals that you can take home. Join us on campus from 6-7:30 p.m. in Doyle Formal. Watch the dollars and donors add up throughout the day.
WOW Festival Baltimore News
In just under a month on March 7, 黑料网 presents WOW- Women of the World Festival Baltimore at the Columbus Center in the Inner Harbor. WOW Festival Baltimore will feature big-name speakers including award-winning journalist, Soledad O鈥橞rien, and author, actress, director, and #TimesUp Co-Founder Amber Tamblyn, and criminal justice reform advocate Cyntoia Brown-Long.
NDMU's very own, Professor Jeana DelRosso will be holding a session during WOW about her book Unruly Catholic Nuns: Sisters' Stories (SUNY Press, 2017). In her session, she will sit down with Unruly Catholic Nuns contributors and offer reading and a Q&A on the experiences of current and former Catholic nuns, adding to the global conversation about the role of women in the Roman Catholic Church today. NDMU Partners to Create an Accessible Pathway to your Ph.D. in Analytics
黑料网 (NDMU) and forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) allowing graduates of NDMU鈥檚 online M.S. in Analytics direct admission to Capitol鈥檚 online Ph.D. in Business Analytics and Data Science program.
Through this MOU, graduates of NDMU鈥檚 master鈥檚 in Analytics program will be eligible to transfer credits from 黑料网 towards Capitol鈥檚 Ph.D. in Business Analytics and Data Science. An advanced degree in Business Analytics prepares students for careers in a rapidly expanding range of industries which require professionals with the expertise needed to utilize data effectively.

Keira Mull, a senior biology student and Sr. Alma Scholar, will be receiving the Research Award at the BEYA (Becoming Everything You Are) STEM Conference on February 14 in Washington, D.C. Keira was nominated for her outstanding academic achievements in STEM. In particular, she is receiving the award as recognition for her work on the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) to detect the presence of endangered fish species in South Korea. Congratulations to Keira!
First year student, Jolisse Gray and many other demonstrators were for their participation in Baltimore's first Ceasefire event of the year. On Saturday, February 8, Gray joined the city-wide initiative on York Road which takes place on four weekends a year. Gray said about the Ceasefire event, 鈥淒oing something so simple does make a difference.鈥
Student Suit Closet Set to Open
The NDMU Suit Closet is a new space, opening early Spring Semester in the Career Center (TH 120), where Women's College students may borrow newly purchased professional clothing to attend interviews or conferences. They will check out professional attire, much like they would a book from the library.
This new resource will enhance our students鈥 employability by ensuring they have access to professional attire any time they step into a networking opportunity, interview or conference. Through fundraising appeals from administrators to alumnae, alumni and friends of the University, all of the $5,000 needed to fund the project has been successfully raised.
An official opening with a ribbon-cutting will take place on Wednesday, February 19 at 12:30 p.m. in Theresa Hall.
Make The Leap
Sophomores: Are you still figuring out your major? Are you thinking about an internship this Summer? Do you want to know your friends better? Please join us and other Sophomores on February 28 to Make the Leap into more clarity. Spend time with your friends with a fun board game that will raise awareness of your strengths and interests. Other easy activities will give insight into yourself and your peers. You thought you knew your peers well? Our game, Who You Are Matters! generates deeper conversations with fellow players and creates specific possibilities for your future.

Can鈥檛 make Dining Hall meal hours? Here are your options
- *New!* To-Go Containers:
- For only $1, you can now get a eco-friendly disposable container at the register in the Dining Hall to get your food to-go.
- *New!* Gator Grind hours:
- Mon. through Thurs. 8 AM to 1 PM and then 4 PM to 7 PM (Fri. only 8 AM to 1 PM)
- Paninis, pizzas, soups & more available to-go
- Gator Grind will extend hours until 8 PM; between 7 PM and 8 PM, students can use their dinner swipe in Gator Grind instead of the Dining Hall for a to-go dinner (meal will be a more limited selection 鈥 more information to come)
- For Residential Students w/ Meal Plans:
- Meal Request Form: If you are a residential student with a meal plan, you can request a to-go meal to be prepared for you ahead of time that can be picked up from the SAGE office using the form. Please send ALL food waiver requests ONLY to catering@ndm.edu. Requests sent to other emails will NOT be approved.

How to Find and Legally Use Images
Wednesday, February 19, noon - 1 pm
Ever wonder if it's okay to use an image in your course materials, publication, or conference presentation? This workshop will help you identify when it's okay to use images without permission. It will also provide tips for locating images that can be freely used under Creative Commons licenses or the public domain. A link to access the workshop will be sent to registered participants.
Copyright Essentials for Graduate Students

Working on a thesis, dissertation, or other large research project? Learn the copyright essentials you need to know to protect your work and make sure you're using the works of others legally. Find out when you do and do not need to get permissions to include images, tests, and more in your thesis or dissertation and how to get permissions when needed. Learn more information about submitting your completed thesis/dissertation to the Library and/or Proquest.
Open Access and Open Educational Resources
Wednesday, February 26, noon - 1 pm
Hoping to reduce textbook costs for your students? This workshop will provide an introduction to open access and open educational resources and provide information on where to located open educational materials. A link to access the workshop will be sent to registered participants.
Author's Rights and Publication Contracts: What to Know Before You Sign
Wednesday March 25, noon - 1 pm
Working on a publication? This workshop will help you understand your rights as an author under copyright law. It will provide information common types of publication agreements and their terms and provide tips on negotiating your contract through hands on exercises. A link to access the workshop will be sent to registered participants.

Athletics
Gator Basketball #GoGators
The 黑料网 basketball team is heading back to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs. For the second year in a row, the Gators have clinched their spot in the CSAC postseason with a week left in the regular season. Last season, NDMU finished third at the conclusion of the regular season, hosting the first round of the CSAC playoffs. Now for the second time in program history, they are headed to the postseason and will wait until the conclusion of the regular season to see where they鈥檒l finish. The Gators have two remaining . Playoffs will be played starting on February 24, but they will find out their final seeding at a later date.
Spring is Here
Spring has sprung on campus as the NDMU spring sports preseason practices are underway. Despite the rain keeping most teams indoors, sunshine is in the forecast as the Gators will kick off their spring schedules in March. will open up the spring season, traveling to Lancaster Bible College on March 4. The program that their home contests will be played at CCBC Dundalk, with their season opening on March 14. The team will open their home schedule on March 21 on the NDMU Tennis Courts and will stay local for their first meet at Goucher College on March 28.

Art Exhibit a Ribbon, a Pearl, a Sedimentary Rock Opens
There is still time to check out the a Ribbon, a Pearl, a Sedimentary Rock exhibit, curated by Allie Linn and featuring the work of Kira Bell, Anna K. Crooks, Taina Cruz, Coco Klockner, Michelle Luong, Maya Martinez, and Pangelica. The exhibit will be up until March 6 in the Gormley Gallery. On March 4 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. in Marikle Chapel a poetry reading will be held in coordination with the a Ribbon, a Pearl, a Sedimentary Rock exhibit.
Art Hive at NDMU
Art Therapy and Make Studio hosted NDMU鈥檚 first Art Hive on February 8. The event welcomed the campus and neighboring community members to join in for a morning of collaborative art. In an Art Hive, everyone is an artist and believes art-making is a human behavior. Art Hives celebrate the strengths and creative capacities of individuals and communities.
NDMU's Cathy Goucher Speaks at National Governors Association Annual Meeting
Director of Art Therapy was the keynote speaker at the National Governors Association's annual meeting. During the meeting, the invitees participates in an art therapy lesson, creating their own works of art. Goucher said during her speech, 鈥淎rt is healing. Creative self-expression is a human necessity.鈥
